Hi!

I am Natalie. Founder of Magical Moments / On The Green Events

I am a local mum of 2 girls of whom I homeschool alongside growing my small business. To say lockdown changed everything is probably an understatement and while it seemed to knock everything down to start all over, it was nonetheless a blessing in disguise..

I used to joke I wrote the theme tune, sing the theme tune and whatever else goes with it.. While I curate most of these events in a world of my own imagination, none of them would be possible without my wonderful team and those who continuously support and sponsor my events.

ONCE UPON A TIME

I used to walk past Cheadle Green and imagine all the things that weren't there...

I sometimes still can't believe this is what I get to do, even when I've said 'I'm not doing that again' I guess I've learnt to rest well instead of quit, and those that know me know I just love it so

That said I do often think of the day this all becomes a memory and hope it inspires someone else to make their dreams come true

HOW IT STARTED

Back in 2015 I joined the Cheadle Civic Society and the rest is history as they say..

This year marks the 10 year anniversary of hosting community events in Cheadle! Part of me can't believe I've reached this milestone and sometimes it feels like I've been at it for as long as I can remember.

While my first event 'Halloween on the Green' was a great success, all I wanted to do was make it better and better. It's a funny thing to be in competition with yourself that's for sure.

Over the earlier years I co-founded Cheadle-Get-Connected C.I.C. and from there we hosted awesome Picnic's in the Park and an unforgettable Cinema on the Green.

Even though I want to share all the great things about these events, for me to inspire the future event creators and dream chasers, I can't pretend it was 'all so magical' because to be frank it wasn't.

To keep going towards your dreams and to follow your passion requires overcoming your fears, pushing yourself out your comfort zone, taking risks for things only you can see, persistence, resilience and most of all believing. Believing you can, believing in good things, believing you're doing what you meant to be doing, believing it will be bring joy to people and you wont even know half the impact, but to keep going despite the naysayes and your inner critic. If it's something you really want to do, to me, it's already written..

What I know for sure, everything doesn't always go to plan, nothing is ever perfect - that's definitely an illusion, but my gosh it is the moments

While transitioning through opening a business pre-lockdown for one purpose, to then doing what I said I wasn't going to do anymore and continue creating community events, the name came mid conversation, like hitting a nail on the head. I called my first website itsallsomagical.com (lol) because of the song that was in my head! But in reality I create what it says on the tin, magical 'moments'

It's NOT all magic, a lot of it is sheer determination, but for most of it is a series of small things added together. Just like the little things, that's what makes up the big picture, the roots going down and round like the seasons, each bringing its own unique blessings.

Apart from the name, the butterfly also signifies a lot of that journey of transformation, turning into that gue before you can glue. Becoming the highest version of yourself, honouring that fragility, beauty and of course, the pure magic when you see one fly!

CINEMA ON THE GREEN

Most of our outdoor cinema events are on Cheadle Green, but over the years we have held Magical Moments Movie Nights in Heaton Moor, Didsbury, Cheadle Hulme and Abney Park for our 'Cinema Sleepovers' & Cheadle Festival. We aim to take Cinema on the Green on tour round Stockport to share these awesome experiences with other communities. Still, we will no doubt have a few more movies screened on the green at our homebase in Cheadle.

We've now held over 20 open air cinema nights with Inflatable Flix and each is as exciting as the first. It never started to be a regular occurrence and yet it's too much fun not to continue!

Over the years..

2017-2019

Cheadle Green

Our very first mini screening was at the second Halloween on the Green showing 'The Book of Life'. 2 years later we test ran our biggest event to date with 'The Greatest Showman' - it will always be a treasured memory and yet I personally prefer the smaller more intimate screenings. Less IS more!

2021-2023

Cheadle and beyond..

After cancelling and rescheduling through the lockdown limbo, we were back again with 'Mamma Mia' and some 'Hocus Pocus' in 2021. Then from 1 to 2, 2 to 8 screening in 2022 and  again in 2023! Most were monthly, a few for festivals and some for sports clubs.

We've screened 'The Greatest Showman' 3 times! Hocus Pocus 1 and 2, Mamma Mia 1 and 2, Moana, Hop, Encanto, Jurassic Park, Sing, Grease, Elf, Whitney and Wonka most recently.

2024 +

Stockport

We're so far potentially going to Poynton, maybe Bramhall and Reddish too so keep your eyes peeled!

For now I am still in slowly does it mode after being full steam ahead for the last few years, and excited to book one at a time for the moment. Next up it's Bob or Barbie and as the votes is currently a tie, we might just have to do both! :)
